Our History

Our History

Family of Champions International Ministries was formerly known as Anglophone University Students Union (AUSF).

This ministry started with students who received a Moroccan Government scholarship. Our ministry started in 2006 and initial meetings numbered less than 10 persons who met on weekends to pray, study God`s word, and fellowship together. FCIM started as a parachurch and not even sure of what it wanted to become, we just wanted to gather as a community and know Jesus. We operated in this way for almost 10 years and in 2017 we became a church.

During his first two years in Morocco, our founder, Pastor Elliot Lamptey encountered different challenges in his spiritual, academic, and social life. These challenges led him to drift away from the Lord. After having been restored by the grace of our Lord Jesus, it became clear to him in his third academic year (2005-2006), that there was an urgent need for a church family for the anglophone students who received the scholarship.

He saw how students drifted far away from the Lord during their stay in Morocco and for some, to the point of denouncing their faith. Part of this was due to the challenges of being away from families and home churches. God has used his deep life-changing experiences and laid a burden on his heart to gather young people to worship, fellowship, pray and learn the Word, to build their faith, and to create a wonderful church family.

With such a great burden laid by God on the heart of Pastor Elliot Lamptey who was then known as Brother Elliot, the Lord brought

other individuals to share the burden and support him in the ministry. These men were Mr. Isaiah Tuolienuo and Mr Kwadwo Sarkodie who are still friends of Pastor Elliot Lamptey. Many others like Pastor Jack Wald and Pastor Uchenna D. Anyanwu supported, guided, and encouraged him from the start of the ministry until date. Also, the Rabat International Church (RIC) has financially supported the ministry and provided a place for meetings for many years.

As the years went by, AUSF began to reach out to other students of different languages, and in 2015, Pastor Lamptey and the leadership felt the need to change the name to Family of Champions International Ministries (FCIM) because as a family, we began to expand beyond students from English speaking nations and even beyond the borders of our birth.
